Lechner Racing Porsche Supercup

Special Race Weekend for Lechner Racing – Ayhancan Güven Fastest in Free Practice at Spielberg

It is a very special Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup weekend for Lechner Racing at the Red Bull Ring in Styria: “Home races are always a bit different, creating more emotions than other race weekends”, Robert Lechner, Team Principal and CEO of the Austrian squad is adamant. “And this year for us of course even more so... We are all extremely motivated and thoroughly prepared for the upcoming challenges, with two races within one week at our home circuit. We went testing here for two days, it´s a track we know very well, where we also have been very successful already, just to mention the two victories here last year. But as usual, we don´t want to get carried away, we have to focus day by day, weekend by weekend.”

The detailed preparation paid off during Free Practice:  BWT Lechner Racing driver Ayhancan Güven set the fastest time, the Turkish Porsche Junior just a few thousands ahead of defending champion Larry ten Voorde. His BWT Lechner Racing teammates Dylan Pereira in P3 ans JB Simmenauer in P8 also showed good performances, as well as Lechner Racing Middle East driver Tio Ellinas, who completed the great result with P5 to make it four Lechner cars in the Top Ten. His teammate Nicolas Misslin was fastest in the Pro-Am-category, two tenth ahead of his closest rival Roar Lindland.

“Of course we are happy that we could make use of the knowledge we gained at our testing days today, but we know that things can change very quickly, we have experienced this already this year”, Team Manager Michael Schöch remained very cautious about any predictions. “Especially with the weather probably becoming a big factor here. We saw today how quickly it can change here in the mountains with heavy rain coming in for the last 15 minutes of the session. Changing conditions are always a special challenge – you  have to be on top of the game every second to adapt appropriately, both the team and the drivers. We hope we will be able to do this tomorrow in qualifying as well as in the race on Sunday.”
