Lechner Racing Porsche Supercup

Leon Köhler Fastest in Free Practice at Silverstone

Leon Köhler in his MSG Porsche of Team Lechner Racing Middle East made himself a great present at his 21st birthday, setting the fastest time in the free practice of the fifth  round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2020  at Silverstone. In general the Lechner drivers seemed to be more  competitive than last weekend at the same track, with five cars of the  Lechner teams making it into the Top Ten. “It´s a nice birthday present for sure”, the German was happy about his performance, “even of it´s only a free practice. Now I hope I can repeat it in qualifying and be there up front again tomorrow.”

Jaxon Evans from BWT Lechner Racing finished the session in P3, just five hundredth of a second behind Larry Ten Voorde, who had dominated the first Silverstone weekend: “Looks like we are a lot closer this time, obviously our hard work analysing all our data and working on a better set-up paid off”, said the  New Zealander. “I hope it stays like this was for the rest of the weekend so that we will be able to fight for pole position and  victory again. There is still also some fine tuning to be done on the driving side as well.”

His BWT Lechner Racing teammate Dylan Pereira was also much happier than last weekend: “The car felt really good today, thanks to the team for the hard work everybody put in in the last days”, said the championship leader. “Until the final corner my fastest lap looked really good, then I went wide into the gravel, so P5 with this mistake is not too bad. I am optimistic that I can put it all together tomorrow and get a decent result in qualifying. I feel comfortable in the car again, that´s very important.”

JB Simmenauer in the second MSG-Porsche of Team Lechner Racing Middle East finished in P11, with the two guest starters of the team even classified ahead of him. Julian Hanses and Berkay Besler made good use of the track knowledge they gained last weekend, ending up in P7 and P10 respectively. “That was quite a bit better”, Hanses was glad about his progress. “I really did my homework, went through all the data and managed to squeeze really everything out of the car. I am looking forward to make further steps in the future.”

Team principal Walter Lechner was positive about the progress since last weekend: “It looks like we are a bit better off this time. It´s good to see Leon heading the field, even if it´s only a free practice. Such a result gives a lot of self-confidence to any driver, which always helps. Having all our six cars within the Top 11 is something we can be a little bit proud of. Especially our guest drivers did a good job, putting their experiences from last week to good use.  But for sure we now have to confirm our performance over the rest of the weekend.”
