Fourth Win for Ammermüller – Another Triple for Lechner Racing
Michael Ammermüller scored his fourth victory of the season in the Porsche Supercup, winning the race at the Hungaroring ahead of his Lechner teammates Dennis Olsen and Dan Cammish. The Bavarian, who extended his championship lead over the Norwegian to 14 points, lost the start from pole position against Cammish, but was able to retake the lead on lap 8: "I had a little bit of wheelspin at the start, but then my car was really good and consistent, so I could put pressure on Dan and finally pass him," said Ammermüller, who emphasized the fair fighting between the teammates: "We are hard competitors, but we always manage to leave the other guy the necessary space to survive."
A reason for team principal Walter Lechner to allow his drivers to freely race each other without any team orders: "I know them well enough to be quite sure they will not do anything stupid when they fight each other." Olsen, who also did not have the best of all start, had even dropped to fourth behind Robert Lukas at the beginning, but was soon able to get past his Polish rival again and then also caught Cammish to finish runner-up behind Ammermüller. Dylan Pereira made up four places from P10 already at the start and finished the race in P6, even after being given a time penalty of five seconds for not respecting track limits, while Al Faisal Al Zubair ended up in P12, just behind Austrian guest starter Thomas Preining, who after two incidents with Josh Webster dropped back from P7 to P11.
