Five Lechner Cars in the Top Seven at Porsche Mobil 1Supercup Hockenheim Qualifying

The rain everybody had feared so much to disturb qualifying stayed away, so it was a clean cut 30 minutes session that defined the grid for the fifth race of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season 2019 at Hockenheim.  And it was a very good session for  the Lechner  Teams, who managed to bring five of their cars within the Top Seven, with Dylan Pereira in P2 just missing out pole position for just about one hundreth of a second against Larry ten Voorde. Nevertheless the MOMO Megatron Lechner Racing driver was very happy about his achievement: “I did not have the best year so far, so it feels great to finally being able to put everything together and be up there in the front. On my fastest lap I even had to overtake Pedersen, which cost me half a tenth, so maybe even pole was possible. But  I really hope I can claim my fist Supercup podium 2019 tomorrow.” His teammate Tio Ellinas was happy as well, equalizing his  best grid position 2019 so far with P4, like in Barcelona.

Reigning Supercup Champion Michael Ammermüller will line up in the second row as well, having claimed P3: “I did not have a perfect lap, a tiny mistake here, another one there... But I am glad that I am still quite a bit away from the midfield, were it get´s always very critical here in the first lap in the hairpin. Also I will start ahead of my main championship rivals, so not too bad... Also our race pace is normally even a bit better than our qualifying speed.” His BWT Lechner Racing teammate Julien Andlauer finished in P6:  “I was blocked on my fastest lap, but still maybe we were lacking a little bit of performance today. We will for sure work on it for tomorrow.”

Team Lechner Racing Middle East´s Al Faisal Al Zubair was very happy about his seventh position on the grid – the second time in a row after Silverstone: “Maybe this time the race will be also a little bit better than last time.” His South African teammate Saul Hack recovered well from a rather nasty Friday, finishing in P20, “while I was maybe a little bit more careful than usual just to avoid any other mistake.” Guest starter Leon Köhler reached P15, while still adapting to the “extremely high level of competition here at the Supercup.”

“So far, so good, five cars in the Top Seven is something you can built on. Dylan did a great job so far this weekend, but I also have to say that Saul did well today after his messy Friday,” team principal Walter Lechner stated. “Now we have to see what tomorrow will bring – especially regarding the weather. There is a strong forecast for rain on Sunday, but there was one for today as well and in the end we had sunshine. So let´s just wait and see...”

The race at Hockenheim will start at 11.25 am, live at Eurosport and Sport1
