Michael Ammermüller is by now one of the most experienced Porsche Cup drivers wolrdwide. The 31-year old from Bavaria seemed bound to be for a great career in single seater racing when he made it up to test and reserve driver for the Red Bull Formula One Team in 2006. But after he suffered a serious wrist injury in a GP2 accident in 2007 stopped his progress there. So after a few twists and turns in his career, since 2012 he is a regular in both the Porsche Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.
In 2017 he is also racing for Porsche in the ADAC GT Masters, where he won the first race at Oschersleben together with Mathieu Jaminet, but of course he would also love to clinch a cup title for the first time. “I had a few race wins, podium finishes and second and third places in the different Championships, but I never managed to win one in the end”, he says. “So it would be great to finally reach this goal this year. Together with Walter Lechner and his team I will do everything possible to make this dream come true, but of course I know it will be a difficult task as there is a lot of harsh competition out there.”
