Double Podium for BWT Lechner Racing at Race 1 Most

Julien Andlauer and Michael Ammermüller from BWT Lechner Racing claimed two podium finishes at the first race of the second race weekend of the  German Porsche Carrera Cup at Most/CZ,  with the Frenchman finishing just behind winner Larry ten Voorde and ahead  of his Bavarian teammate.  Dylan Pereira  and JB Simmenauer from  Lechner Racing Team  in P5 and P10 completed a very good result for the Lechner squad with all four cars classified within the Top Ten.

Ammermüller, who had set pole position in qualifying earlier in the day, lost out at the start to ten Voorde, but was able to put pressure on the Dutchman until the safety car had to come out at the end of lap 7 due to a midfield crash for three laps, also setting fastest lap of the race. But after the re-start, he made a little mistake which allowed his BWT Lechner Racing teammate Julien Andlauer to slip through and take second place. But also for the Frenchman it was not possible any more to hunt down ten Voorde until the chequered flag came out. While Andlauer was quite happy with his race and  P2 after his not so fantastic qualifying due to his own standards,  Ammermüller was a bit angry with himself: “Today more was definitely  possible. My start was actually not too bad, but obviously Larry got away even better. After the re-start I got slightly into the gravel, lost the front lip – and after that I could do not much more of course.”

Also Dylan Pereira from Luxembourg got into trouble after the re-start – but not at all due to his own fault. The 21-year-old, who managed to climb from P7 on the grid to P4 immediately with a great getaway, was hit from behind by Toni Wolf and spun: “To some extend I was even luck to lose only one position and still finish fifth, but nevertheless it was quite annoying. In the end I did everything to get my fourth place back, but I guess I would have needed one more lap. His Lechner Racing Team teammate JB Simmenauer did a good race as well, staying out of trouble and climbing up to P10  from P20 on the grid.

Team principal Walter Lechner was rather  content with the result: “Two podium finishes and all cars in the Top Ten is something you have to value quite highly in this competitive series. Of course starting from pole you always hope for a win, but we still have another chance tomorrow to get this box ticked as well...”

The second  race of the German Porsche Carrera Cup at Most will start at 1.10 pm on Sunday.
