BWT Lechner Racing and Michael Ammermüller two times on Pole at Oschersleben
Pole Position for Michael Ammermüller with a dominating gap of more than two tenth, P 3 for Dylan Pereira for Sunday´s race of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany at Oschersleben: It was a good start for the two Lechner Racing teams into their comeback season in this series. For today´s race, where the grid positions were determined by the second fastest lap of each driver in Qualifying, Ammermüller is also on pole, with Pereira in P4.
Austrian team principal Walter Lechner was rather content: “It´s good to see that we are competitive from the very beginning. Today you could see how much experience counts – especially under the very tricky conditions with only the racing line being dry and everything else still wet. Michael and Dylan both showed a great performance, so it looks good for us, even if not everything was completely going to plan today.”
With this, he mainly referred to Thomas Preining, who experienced a bit of a messy qualifying. The Austrian, seen as one of the title favourites this year together with Ammermüller by his fellow drivers, has his fastest time, which would have put him within the top contenders, deleted due to track limits and an off through the grass which did a little bit of damage to his car, resulting in only P14 for today and P15 for Sunday and two rather challenging races ahead...
Youngster Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer put in quite a good lap in his first outing, rising the hopes of being able to enter the Top Ten in his first ever start in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany – even with the conditions today being completely different to those in testing, an additional challenge for such a young driver. But then the 17-year-old was not able to improve in his second run, also due to some traffic, which resulted in him dropping back to P15 and P17 respectively in the very competitive field of 29 cars with less than six tenth of a second between P 6 and P18.
