BWT Colours on Top - Triple Sweep for Lechner Racing in Spielberg

The start of the season into the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at the Red Bull Ring  could not have gone better for Lechner Racing: The two BWT Lechner Racing drivers Jaxon Evans and Dylan Pereira as well as Leon Köhler in the MSG Porsche achieved a triple victory at the team's home race in Spielberg, Austria. "This is of course a fantastic new start", team boss Walter Lechner was ever so pleased to say, "proof that we are very well set up  this season again with our strongly rejuvenated driver line-up and our two newcomers, Jaxon and Leon".

For Jaxon Evans, who had already secured pole position on Saturday, it was the first victory in the Porsche Supercup ever. The New Zealander took the lead right from the start and then controlled the race rather unchallenged. "Of course I am overjoyed that my first race weekend with Walter and his team went so well. My very first victory in this series is something very special, I'm sure I'll always remember that," said the Porsche Junior. “It was all about making no mistake and bringing the race home safely, and I managed to do that.”

His BWT-Lechner Racing team mate Dylan Pereira kept his promise from P4 on the grid: Full attack - that's how he managed to get to second place behind Evans on the starting lap, which he kept until the end of the race. "But I couldn't attack him, he was really very good and fast today." A  black and white warning flag for track limits meant that he was told by the team to be a little more careful: "You could see from the time penalty for Güven, which  threw him back to eighth place, that the stewards were really serious here," said Walter Lechner, "so a little caution was in order.”

Leon Köhler in the MSG-Porsche of Lechner Racing Middle East was very happy. The 20-year-old cheered  his third place on the podium nearly as a victory. "To finish on the podium right here on my debut, that's a great thing. It was important to keep a good overview in the starting phase and not to lose ground there. After that, the most important thing was not to make any mistakes and to keep my position." The German also won the rookie classification ahead of JB Simmenauer in the second MSG-Porsche, who finished sixth overall, but was even a little disappointed about this. "My speed was really good; the set-up of the car was incredible. But I just couldn't get past Florian Latorre." When the two touched briefly on lap ten, Larry Ten Voorde was able to take advantage of the situation and pass both of them. "After that my car was a little damaged, but fortunately still fast."

Julian Hanses, driving  the third car of Lechner Racing Middle East on the Red Bull Ring, finished 11th: "I was a bit too careful at the start, the others squeezed me in a bit, so I lost a few places. I'll have to be a bit more aggressive there." The Supercup newcomer was nevertheless able to celebrate a strong race: leaving two rivals behind with sparkling overtaking manoeuvres - not many others were able to claim this in this race.

For team boss Walter Lechner, the successful season opener was a reason for optimism for the future: "We're going to continue right here and we're really well positioned. Our cars are very fast, our drivers are doing a great job. Jaxon Evans was absolutely flawless; Dylan Pereira made the most of his fourth place on the grid - and Leon Köhler's success is a proof for the good work we did building up his career so carefully and consistently over two winters in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East.  I'm convinced that we can look very strong gain for the most powerful week."
