Four out of Four: Clean Sweep for Lechner Racing at Silverstone
It was one of the greatest days ever in the history of the Lechner Racing Team: At the Porsche Supercup race at Silverstone, the Austrian squad scored a quadruple victory, with Norwegian Dennis Olsen scoring his first ever Supercup win ahead of Championship leader Michael Ammermüller and Dylan Pereira from Luxembourg.
Dennis Olsen who already claimed pole position yesterday, won the start and led from flag to flag, never really getting under serious pressure. "After some wins in the German Porsche Carrera Cup it is a great feeling to be on the top step of the podium now in the Supercup as well", said Olsen, who as runner-up in the Champiohship reduced his gap to leader Ammermüller to 12 points. The Bavarian, who had started from P4 on the grid, already gained one position at the start itself, then made use of a little mistake of Pereira on lap five to take second place. "But Dennis drove a faultless race in front, so there was no way to get him any more."
Pereira scored his second Supercup podium within one week, defending his position against Dan Cammish, even having to fight some serious oversteer. But the Brit, two times winner of the British Porsche Carrera Cup, never got really close enough and had to put up with fourth place, nevertheless taking the honour of being the best place British driver at Silverstone, the "home of British motor racing."
Guest drivers Charlie Eastwood and Tom Oliphant in P10 and 11 and Al Faisal Al Zubair from Oman, who impressed with some clever overtaking during the race, in P15 made it seven of the nine Lechner cars within the Top 15. "Of course this was a brilliant day for us", said team principal Walter Lechner. "I really have to thank everybody in the team for the great effort of running nine cars this weekend and also our drivers, who managed to bring home this success with extremely fast, but nevertheless controlled and disciplined driving."
